Forensic Audio Restoration and Enhancement Services

I am now offering high quality Forensic Audio Restoration and Enhancement Services to the law enforcement and legal communities.

New and powerful computer technologies now enable audio recordings to be rendered much more audible, and with far greater clarity, than was previously possible.

I apply the highest standards of forensic analysis to this new state-of-the-art process. An important component of sound forensic analysis is that each step in the process be documented clearly and in detail, so that the analysis can be duplicated by other experts if needed as part of the development of a case and its presentation at trial.

How does this service work?

You provide me with the original recording or a good duplicate copy if the original is not available.

  • I then digitize the audio stream. This provides a baseline that will not change with repeated listening.

Using specialized forensic audio software and hardware, I make the relevant portions of the recording clearer and more audible. I can also isolate certain parts of the recording for ease of use in court proceedings, and can slow down or speed up the recording without changing the pitch.

  • I then produce a CD containing the original recording and the restored version as separate tracks. Any isolated audio will aso be included as separate tracks, as well. This CD can be played in any CD player and can be copied using standard CD copying software.

This process is surprising rapid and the costs quite reasonable.

I also offer other specialized audio-based services. These include spectrographic voice comparison (aka voice-printing), selective removal or masking of audio for use in court, and gunshot or other impulse sound analysis.
